APPEL A COMMUNICATIONS




L’Université de Mumbai et l’INALCO, PLIDAM (Paris, France) lancent un appel à communications pour un colloque international intitulé « Médier entre langues, cultures et identités : enjeux, outils, stratégies », qui sera organisé les jeudi 7 et vendredi 8 décembre 2017 à l’Université de Mumbai, Inde. Ce colloque a vocation à rassembler des chercheurs anglophones et francophones, linguistes, didacticiens, enseignants de langues et de civilisations étrangères et des universitaires exerçant dans des secteurs connexes.





ARGUMENTAIRE







Cette manifestation se pose comme une réflexion collective autour de la « médiation », notion traditionnellement utilisée en droit, en diplomatie et aussi en psychologie, en lien avec des défaillances et des tensions.





Ce concept s’opère également entre langues et cultures, savoirs et apprentissage, publics, identités et institutions, théories et applications, et il a besoin d’être constamment redéfini compte tenu des spécificités de notre environnement plurilingue et pluriculturel qui crée sans cesse de nouveaux lieux de rencontres et des espaces de croisement inédits entre locuteurs et apprenants de langues diverses.





De plus, mettre en débat la notion de médiation permet d’ouvrir un dialogue conceptuel entre la linguistique et d’autres disciplines articulant les divers éléments constitutifs de l’identité, susceptibles d’alimenter la réflexion sur les pratiques d’apprentissage des langues/cultures à l’échelle universitaire, dans un monde global et digital.





Les communications concerneront les axes suivants :





- les choix pédagogiques face à l’intensification des échanges des sociétés qui renouvellent les modes des contacts entre langues, cultures et identités ;




- l’imaginaire associé aux langues légitimes et délégitimées dans un espace plurilingue et pluriculturel, à l’heure où les classes sont de plus en plus hétérogènes ;




- l’apport du numérique en termes de dépassement des situations d’apprentissage classiques ;




- la construction et la négociation des identités dans la rencontre avec l’Autre.





Il s’agit :




- de confronter les expériences d’enseignement/apprentissage de langues/cultures qui ont des traditions pédagogiques avec celles qui en sont dépourvues ;




- d’articuler les démarches de classe avec les destins des acteurs de l’enseignement/apprentissage et avec le devenir collectif des communautés de locuteurs ;




- de mettre en perspective les échanges dans des milieux intrinsèquement multiculturels et la gestion des dysfonctionnements de communication.





Les conclusions de cette rencontre, tenue en langues anglaise et française, seront transposables à l’apprentissage de toutes langues/cultures étrangères au bénéfice d’enseignants de contextes variés qui s’emploient à établir la continuité entre des espaces culturels différents.




Les propositions communication préciseront la perspective théorique, la méthodologie utilisée, le corpus ou le terrain étudiés. Rédigées en anglais ou en français, elles doivent inclure





- le titre,




- le prénom et le nom de l’auteur,




- son statut et son rattachement institutionnel,




- ses coordonnées électroniques et postales,




- et quelques références bibliographiques.

Date limite de soumission des propositions : 30 juin 2017.




Les auteurs seront notifiés des résultats de la sélection des propositions au plus tard le 15 août 2017. Des conseils pourront alors leur être transmis quant à l’intégration de leur communication dans la problématique générale du colloque. Les contributions prendront la forme de communications de 20 minutes. Une publication de textes sélectionnés est prévue.




Il n’y aura pas de frais d’inscription au colloque mais les participants seront amenés à payer les repas. Les organisateurs n’offrent pas d’aide financière pour les déplacements ou l’hébergement.

CALL FOR PAPERS





The University of Mumbai and INALCO, PLIDAM (Paris, France) announce a call for papers for the international bilingual conference in English and French - Mediating between languages, cultures and identities : challenges, tools, strategies. The conference will take place on Thursday 7^th and Friday 8^th December 2017 at the University of Mumbai, India. The conference hopes to bring together researchers from the fields of linguistics, applied linguistics and allied disciplines touching upon the core areas of languages, cultures and identities.




This conference will serve as a collective reflection around ’mediation’, a concept traditionally used in law, in diplomacy and also in psychology, with relation to tensions and breaches. Knowledge, learning, theories and applications need to be constantly redefined especially in the light of the largely multilingual and multicultural worlds we engage in, where new spaces of encounters between learners and speakers of diverse languages are incessantly evolving. In this scenario mediation assumes an important place. Perceptions related to ’legitimate’ and ’de-legitimised’ languages in increasingly heterogeneous classrooms and contexts will be studied ; so will compatibilities between classroom techniques, stake holders and the future of the larger community of language speakers. Dysfunctional communication is equally interesting as is successful communication in this world of constant mutation ; managing the same is an issue of relevance.




Debating and encouraging discussion on mediation allows us to open up conceptual dialogues between linguistics and other related disciplines which nurture scientific thought on language and cultures in this digital era.




The conference will address the following areas but will not be restricted to these alone





- pedagogical choices in a world of increased communication and new modes of contact between languages, cultures and identities ;




- popular thought associated with legitimate, delegitimised languages in a multilingual and multicultural context and increasingly heterogenous classrooms ;




- the advantage of digital technology in terms of redefining traditional approaches of learning and approach to languages ;




- the construction and negotiation of identities in heterogeneous contexts and in interactions with the ’Other’.





The conference aims towards the following goals







- associating teaching experience/ learning of languages/cultures and pedagogical traditions ;




- articulating classroom methodologies with the experience of learners and teachers and also the larger community of language speakers ;




- putting into perspective the interactions in multicultural environments and the handling of dysfunctional communication.





The outcomes of this conference hope to benefit a wider community of teachers, contexts and cultural spaces. Proposals should outline the theoretical perspective, research methodology, and the context studied. They can be submitted in French or in English and must include the following :

Last date for sending proposals : 30^th June 2017





Proposals will be evaluated by the scientific committee. Authors will be notified of the selection by 15^th August 2017 latest. Suggestions for modifcations of the proposals could be recommended in order to help it fit into the objectives of the conference. The presentations will be of a duration of 20 minutes during the conference. A publication of selected articles is planned.





There are no conference fees but participants may have to pay for the lunch during the event. However, once selected, prior registration is necessary. The organisers do not provide any financial assistance nor do they arrange for the stay during the conference.
