Meeting Description :
In recent years, formal semantic research has expanded its scope to historical linguistics and FoDS has become the main forum to discuss such work. Formal studies in meaning change help to understand the structure of the space of possible denotations, restrictions on possible interface mappings in the constitution of meaning, and they are connected to reinterpretation processes available online at some point in time and in a particular population structure.
Call for Papers :
We invite abstract submissions for oral as well as poster presentations addressing semantic change on the basis of formal theories of meaning, including case studies, studies of trends as well as general formal theories of meaning change and corpus based research. The interfaces with pragmatics, syntax, and other areas are welcome too, as long as a contribution to the here central area of formal diachronic semantics is given. We also welcome papers that address methodological questions in the field.
Abstracts must be anonymous, in PDF format, 2 pages (A4 or letter), in a font size no less than 12pt. Please submit abstracts via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fods2) no later than September 7, 2017.
